When people tell me they love their pets that they own.
I want to punch them in the mouth.
You cannot claim to respect and love a creature, but speak of them as if they bear a barcode.
luvkeilah asked: Not trying to be funny. This is a real question. Do vegan pet owners who own meat eating pets allow their pet to eat meat? Like cats and fish/ chicken or watever they put in cat food or let them drink milk? And if so, why isn't it wrong? Because although I love eating vegan subs sometimes, I don't see the wrong in eating another animal except for the way we torture them and make them over produce before. I mean other animals do it and if we're no better than them why not?
We usually prefer to say animal companions, and there are many who feed their companions vegan pet food.
But cat’s/dogs aren’t supposed to drink cows milk, they aren’t cattle. It’s actually incredibly unhealthy for them. As is most conventional pet food, as they are grain saturated.
We are not biologically suited to consume animals, and even if we can survive while doing so, it’s selfish and irresponsible to eat animal products.
Other animals who eat animals, are meant to do so, and only do so when hungry.
Fat.
I feel so heartbroken when I hear people crying, experiencing true self hate, because they call themselves ‘fat’. And I am one of the worst offenders.
On one hand, fat isn’t an emotion, nor is it a body type, truly, fat is a macronutrient that you need in large quantities to stay alive. It’s something you need. Not something to fear.
Now, on the other hand, fat isn’t a four letter word either. It’s something everyone has on their body. Just because you have more of it than someone else, doesn’t make you unhealthy, nor does it make you unattractive.
There is so much beauty in every body type. It just makes me sad to know that people will kill themselves over body image issues. Over eating disorders. Over being bullied by cruel people.
But I think the most important part, is loving yourself. If you want to call yourself ‘fat’ and take pride in it, then that’s beautiful.
More people should love themselves, take pride in how you look, you only ever have this one body to love.
It’s so much easier said than done, but if you truly want to love yourself, you have to accept your body and treat it right.
Fuck fat shaming. Fuck thin shaming. Fuck fat phobia. Fuck the hatred.
I’m sure many of you have had a disapproving meat eater lecture you about how bad soy is for you. Somewhat ironic that much of the meat eaten world-wide is raised on soya grain. 98% of all soy grown in America, for instance, is fed to livestock rather than people directly, making American meat eaters the driving market of soy production in that country. Whoopsies!
So what is soy? Soybeans are the most widely used, least expensive, and least caloric way to get large amounts of protein with very little fat and no cholesterol. You can eat soybeans in many forms, including tofu, the beans themselves (also known as edamame), soy milk, miso, and soy powder.
Here is the breakdown on soy. (I’m going to get all sciency on your ass) Soy has phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are phytochemicals, or natural chemicals found in plants. These phytoestrogens work with and in the body similar to the hormone estrogen. Isoflavones are a type or group of phytoestrogens which are thought to be positive. Again, this group of isoflavones is thought to aid in preventing cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis and menopausal symptoms.
Some people are worried that eating soy can cause breast cancer, because they believe that phytoestrogens have the same effect as estrogens, and can thus increase breast cancer in estrogen-positive breast cancers. ➡ But wait! The average woman living in East Asia eats about 10 times the quantity of soy foods as the average woman in the United States. Yet East Asian women have lower rates of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer than women in the United States.
But there is some research that eating too much soy could negatively impact a woman’s fertility, and we should probably be careful not to overload infants with too much soy in their formula.
However, the research is inconclusive, so to be on the safe side, don’t mainline soy. Enjoy your soy products, just don’t overload on them. #vegansofig
