(I’m tired of people asking me about my snake. So here is what I’ll be referring them to from now on.)

Why do you have a snake if you’re vegan? : Well, we rescued her from a family that had no time, or money to take care of her. She was in a poorly equip tank, and was very skinny. 

We rescued her because the only other alternative was her dying. She is many generations captive breed, and even if we could some how get permission to release her back into Colombia, where red tails are native, she would be too trusting of humans to survive. 

I don’t like keeping her in a tank, I’d much rather her live in the rainforest, I hate myself knowing how no matter the size of tank we give her, it’s dwarfed by her true home. But I do what I can, and will give her the best life possible.

Well you still feed her mice: 

Yes, I do. Because that’s what she eats, there is no way around it, as much as I hate it. She can not eat a ‘vegan’ diet. There is not humane way to let her starve to death.  So we feed her frozen mice, that way there is no risk of her being harmed by her prey.

I understand a of vegans disagree with me taking care of her, but there is no better way. There is no turning a blind eye and letting her die, there is no releasing her into the wild (as much as I’d love that.) 

She is my world and I’ll protect her from anything, and give her the best life I am capable of giving.

Why do you have pets if you’re vegan?- I don’t have pets, I have animal companions that are all rescues. Including my snake. She was half starved when we got her.

Why are you vegan? - Because I have the capacity to be compassionate towards other living creatures.

Is veganism expensive? - No, I live on $20 a week for food.

Would you date a non-vegan? - Lol no. 

Would you buy leather from a thrift store? - No I don’t wear another animals skin, it isn’t mine to decide to use as a fabric. It’s theirs.

Why are you so “pushy”?- Because things need to change, and I will fight until they do.
